Science and Christianity: Certainty vs. Faith or Belief vs. Assurance?

Instructor: Fr. Don Lococo, CSB.

Modern media conditions us to believe that science provides truths that we can rely upon absolutely. Reporting gives the impression that scientific truth is certain. Even if true, our certainty is based upon believing the media. Only a fool would do that absolutely. Religion, however is as old as civilization itself, presenting us with truths that we are sure are certain because we believe that God revealed them. Which belief system is more certain? Should we be so sure? This short course investigates this theme considering the topics of human development, evolution, the environment, and death and resurrection. It will provide a critical basis to judge the so-called certainty truths that daily barrage our senses.
