RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD: THE ABRAHAMIC FAITHS

This four-week course will provide students with an overview of the Abrahamic faith traditions of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the Baha’i Faith. In the course, students will explore the historical events, key tenets, central figures, and major scriptural works of these four religious traditions. In addition, students will also discuss each tradition’s relationship with the contemporary world. This is an introductory course and no prior knowledge of these religious traditions is required.

Mondays 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – September 25, October 2, October 16 and October 23
(There will be no class on Monday October 9, 2017 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday)

Dr. John Cappucci is the Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Religion and Conflict at Assumption University. John has taught an array of courses at both the college and university levels. His refereed journal articles have appeared in several internationally-recognized publications, including the Journal of Shi’a Islamic Studies, Fieldwork in Religion, Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs.
